Ange Garabelli
Masters Course
Ange (Andrea) Garabelli (she/her) acknowledging the Bunurong/Boon Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which I work, make and play and all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the areas in which I am ever a visitor.
Raised bilingual and multicultural, the idea that there are multiple ways for us to express, know and become is intrinsic and inspiring of the ways I choose to move in the world.
As an educator in the public sector for over 20 years; and a facilitator of community arts programs for 10 years, it has been vital for me to co-create opportunities and spaces that support individuals with diverse abilities and personal challenges to find a language to “voice” their experience, support well-being and invite agency.
I delight in the reciprocity that I have found exists between embodied experiencing and materiality, that when attended to can provide meaningful access to that which is not yet known or is in the process of becoming known. This textural conversation has shaped my own artistry and provides a colourful pallet to engage with in my private practice.
As a Teacher and Supervisor at The MIECAT Institute, it is my passion for these multimodal ways of knowing and expressing that connects me to my practice, the content, and the students that I am privileged to work alongside.
Ange is a teacher in our Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice course.
