Dr. Amanda E. Woodford
Professional Doctorate Coordinator
Masters course

Amanda (she/her) is a mixed-media artist, registered Creative Arts Therapist (AThR), ANZACATA approved supervisor, and an arts-based researcher. She joins us from her hometown of Ōtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand.
She has a strong interest in: embedding the MIECAT methodology of inquiring into arts-making; creating multi-modal texts; and finding individualised ways to inquire supported by reflexivity. Her therapeutic focus is on supporting people living with the impact of experiences that are ongoing and understanding cultural experiences to foster community connection. Amanda advocates for a style of companioning that privileges slow, quiet, sensory encounters with arts-making materials, emerging forms and human others. The arts and design are central to her way of making sense and communicating what she has come to know with others.
Amanda is the coordinator of our Professional Doctorate in Therapeutic Arts Practice course. She is also a teacher in our Masters course and a supervisor in our Professional Doctorate.
